People’s group is going to launch a new website in the realty market. It is slated to be launched in this quarter and going to be aptly named 2bhk.com makaan.com. I got to know about this a long time ago… but forgot..

2bhk makaan is a very good name that Indians can connect to… as usually thats the word which is used to say a house in hindi.

I still don’t know what innovation will it bring in its site to capture the market, maybe it will also start a offline channel to reach the offline indian population something just like what shaadi.com
has – Shaadi point…
Maybe it will be called 2bhk point or something …. There is a lot of activity going on in the online realty sites.. Already there are major players like
1. 99acres.com
2. Indiaproperty.com

3. magicbricks.com who already are advertising a lot to capture the growing market. The stats between these 3 biggies given by alexa (which can be broadly used to measure traffic) is as follows

by the chart we can see that magicbricks had a real rough ride for the past 3 months with its highs and lows which maybe linked to its advertising campaign but just check out Indiaproperty its growing every month and 99acres is quite stable.. so whom do you give the award of being the no.1 ?? Check out the rankings for the past 3 months of these 3 sites.. They are fighting for it….

By the way Something is really wrong with 99acres you can see the ranking stats of alexa with equal ups and downs as if someone is deliberately trying to keep 99acres ranking up…. it seems like every week ending the rank goes down and someone comes back on monday to work and gets the rank up…. (you can play with alexa if you want) So does it show some big hand behind it or just traffic from people who can access it from their offices only…. I mean traffic from professionals ( I need to get a survey done)

You cannot decide that a particular site tops indian market just by alexa so If we get a chance to dig into the number of properties listed and the number of registered users on those sites.. we can atleast measure who’s on top…..(by the way I find Indiaproperty pleasing to the eye) So…. 2bhk makaan is going to come and lets see how far it succeeds in the online real estate market and what its alexa ranks are and then we will have a post regarding who’s no 1 with all the stats I promise….. as for other people’s group ventures like fropper, astrolife, mauj.com and shaaditimes are trying to compete with biggies and have worked…. So you can bet big on 2bhk makaan too….

So what is spock.

First I thought its a simple search engine but then when you cant be always 100% right… Its a people search engine……

So you search for my name and you will find websites, tags and information about me. Its that simple I think it will make people searching easier but still think about lakhs of people with the same name what about them how to search and find information about them.Just searching for the name John turned up 2000000 pages and is sorted by popularity so the first 2 people that topped was Donald Trump (Donald John Trump Sr.) then came John F. Kennedy And it carried relevant information about those two people

Sp youve got to be really famous to get to the top ten…. It would be easy for me i hope…. Cos Ive got less competition for the name Rochit… .

It does take time to search.. still not that fast as google……. (Yea google is a benchmark)

So i searched for aishwarya… no… only 46 results so to make it a little intersting i searched for shahrukh still no shahrukh khan here at top slot only 95 results.

Searching for rahul gave me numbers of 5046, aha ! So how do you zero in on the person you want to search for….. Advanced search… It has option of age group, Gender, Tags, location and picture… So it cn help you to search for a person to a particular extent…….

but still waiting for a major innovation is the most likely i am going to do………….
Yea so how do you get popular on this website… No SEO here its PEO (People engine optimization. as a registered member you can add relevant and interesting tags to people’s profiles, vote tags up to make them rank higher, or vote them down to make them rank lower, or disappear.

You can keep track of the people you are interested in by adding them to your favorites… And if you profile is already there you claim of the profile tht its yours…..

So how to monetize ?? Something similar to googles sponsored results is in the pipeline uit seems bcos tht can be a very good option… So if a person searches for Angelina Jolie The sponsored results could be About movies, Movie review website, Latest movies etc etc……

All of us know a major chunk of top searches on google is for people or for events linked to people.. So search engine specifically for people can work….

I received an email for a website.. which I always check if its worth forwarding… not the promotional sites but quality. just forwarding links that is done when you really want that person to chk that email…. thats it…

The site in itself is very simple.. its when you want to sign up…..
The site is something different.. it maps your virtual DNA.. No it doesn’t need your blood or any of tht.. It just shows you pictures and asks you to click on one according to your interest…… It then analyses the choices made and gives information on what kind of person you are… .. Its still in the beta phase.. but i think sites like these which gives you results according to your preference will work.. well google worked…. So why wont this.. Anyways it also gives you a widget where you can show it to the world what kind of a person you are…… It also has a giftfinder.. Where according to your taste a person can find a suitable gift for you…… or you can find a suitable gift according to his/her taste…. I think this site will go a long way… cos it matches user profiles according to preferences…..

One of my friends gave me a link to check out on GTalk about a new search engine by Yahoo.. Well that made me think ‘A new search engine by yahoo… thats interesting.’ what happned to the old one. I know its now absolete.. (Anyways Yahoo always tries to hijack your default search by its toolbar and messenger setup)

First look.. I thought its just another Google types…. because the main page was nothing like Yahoo(The cluttered one).. it was more of a Google page…

I made a search and I was impressed……. Yahoo7 guyz integrated ajax on it… yipee… Google still hasnt (I really love it when someone challenges google’s domination and this looks like can be the closest contender)… I loved the integration of yahoo and other popular portals on the search page. If you are a user of the popular offerings like Flickr, Youtube, Yahoo Answers, Yahoo news. Wikipedia and that yahoo sponsored search…

One thing that is nice… is the layout and simple interface. There is the main search results wide column on the left and the right column with all your customized results widgets(So its not tied to its own domain unlike Google). All the rightside feature buttons are collapsed… So if someone doesn’t want to see those annoying sponsored results (its annoying for some) or those extras…. Can just customize the homepage for themselves and keep it that way. And you can also share your custom search homepage wit others.

The language used is something fresh.. not the professional but the casual touch from Google ofcourse.. ( I still cant find that word to define it) When it can’t provide any answers it shows error message like

“No Results

The web is so largeAlmost boundless in its scope

So its going a little bit the donut way…… but still overall I like the simple plain non intrusive… in competition with Live search and Google look. It has the personalization thing added to it where you can add modules to it which will fetch rss feeds(Customized Homepage Everybody has that nothing new) (OpenSearch RSS) from your preferred portal content search … Any ways check it out There is an official blog of the search (on Yahoo 360 desiblogz is much better lol) that sheds some light on it..
